About eFoilcast

eFoilcast is an hourly eFoil conditions forecast and a shared map of places to ride. It answers one question: is it worth going, and when?

The score

Every hour of the next seven days gets a 0–100 score from the things that decide an eFoil session: wind and gusts first, then the chop that wind raises across the open water upwind of the spot (a fetch-limited wave model fed by real shoreline geometry), the tide where launching and landing depend on it, tidal current where a NOAA station measures it, rain, air temperature, and an air-quality gate for smoke. The parts combine as a weakest-link model, so one bad factor sinks the hour the way it does on the water. Great is 85 and up; Go windows are 90 and up by default. Signed in, you can tune the tolerances to your skill and board under Tune scores, and the page re-scores for you.

The spots

Spots start from public launches and shoreline in OpenStreetMap and get checked and corrected by the riders who use them; a ✓ marks a rider-checked spot. If a name or a point looks wrong, the ride reports and the feedback link are how it gets fixed. Pinning anywhere on the map works too, with a weather-only forecast.

The data

Open-Meteo for weather, air quality and sea state; NOAA for US tides, currents and water temperature; the EOT20 tide model elsewhere; OpenStreetMap for launches and shorelines. Full list and licenses on the data credits page. No forecast is a substitute for looking at the water.

Who

Built by Kevin Rohling at Conifer Labs, an eFoil rider on Puget Sound who wanted a better answer than refreshing three weather apps. It is in open beta; see the beta page if you would like to help.
